(Simple, Compound and Complex examples)

 

1.Complex:He returned home after the sun had set .
 Compound  : The sun set and then he returned home .
Simple : The sun having set , he returned home
2.He could not come because he was ill .
Compound :He was ill , so he could not come .
–সে অসুস্থ ছিল, সুতরাং সে আসতে পারল না ।
Simple : Because of his illness he could not come .
-অসুস্থতার কারণে, সে আসতে পারল না।
3.If you work hard , you will succeed.
-যদি তুমি কঠোর পরিশ্রম কর ,তুমি সফল হবে ।
Compound : Work hard and you will succeed.
 কঠোর পরিশ্রম কর এবং তুমি সফল হবে।
Simple : By working hard , you will succeed .
 কঠোর পরিশ্রম দ্বারা, তুমি সফল হবে ।
4.I know where he lives.
Compound :He lives in a place and  I know the it.
Simple : I know his living place .
5.Complex :He escaped the accident because he was lucky.
-সে দুর্ঘটনা থেকে বেঁচে গিয়েছিল কারণ সে ছিল ভাগ্যবান ।
Compound : He was lucky and he escaped the accident .
Simple  : Luckily , he escaped the accident . (Luckily
6.Though he is rich ,he is not contented .
-যদিও সে ধনী , সে তৃপ্ত নয় ।
Compound : He is rich but he is not contented .
Simple : In spite of being rich ,he is not contented . (ধনী হওয়া সত্ত্বেও)
7.He knows whom I loved .
Compound: I loved someone and he knows her .
 Simple : He knows my beloved person .
8.What he says is not true .
 Compound : He says something and it is not  true .
 Simple : He does not say the truth
9.As he was ill , he did not attend school.
Compound : He was ill and he did not attend school .
Simple: Because of his illness , he did not attend school .
10.Complex:We read that we may learn .
Simple :We read to learn .
Compound : We read and  thus ,we can  learn .
11.He works hard in order that he may prosper .
Compound :He works hard and he may prosper .
Simple : By working hard , he may prosper .
12.Walk carefully lest you should fall down .
Compound : Walk carefully ,otherwise you may/will fall down .
Simple  : Without walking carefully , you may /will fall down .
  13.They will not come unless you invite them .
Simple : Without your invitation , they will not come . 
14.Since you are ill , you can not go there .
Compound :You are ill , so you can not go there .
Simple ; Because of your illness , you can not go there .
15.The man is so weak that he can not walk .
Compound : The man is very weak and so he can not walk .
Simple : The man is too weak to walk
16. I saw the boy who was lame.
(-আমি বালকটিকে দেখেছিলাম যে ছিল খোঁড়া ।)
Simple : I saw a lame  boy.
Compound : I saw a boy and he was lame .
17.I saw him when he was going to school .
-যখন সে স্কুলে যাচ্ছিল , আমি তাকে দেখেছিলাম ।
Compound : He was going to school and then I saw him .
Simple : I saw him going to school .
 18. When it was 2004 ,I was in Dhaka .
Compound :It was 2004 and then I was in Dhaka .
Simple : In 2004 , I was in Dhaka .
 19.I do not know what his father’s name is .   
Simple: I do not know his father’s name .
 20. I am sure that he will succeed in life .
 Simple : I am sure of his success .
21.He returned home after the sun had set .
Compound  : The sun set and then he returned home.
Simple : The sun having set , he returned home .
22.He could not come because he was ill .
Compound :He was ill , so he could not come .
–সে অসুস্থ ছিল, সুতরাং সে আসতে পারল না ।
Simple : Because of his illness he could not come .
-অসুস্থতার কারণে, সে আসতে পারল না।
23.If you work hard , you will succeed.
-যদি তুমি কঠোর পরিশ্রম কর ,তুমি সফল হবে ।
Compound : Work hard and you will succeed.
- কঠোর পরিশ্রম কর এবং তুমি সফল হবে।
Simple : By working hard , you will succeed .
 কঠোর পরিশ্রম দ্বারা, তুমি সফল হবে।
24.I know where he lives.
Compound :He lives in a place and  I know the place .
Simple : I know his living place .
25.Complex :He escaped the accident because he was lucky.
-সে দুর্ঘটনা থেকে বেঁচে গিয়েছিল কারণ সে ছিল ভাগ্যবান ।
Compound : He was lucky and he escaped the accident .
26.Though he is rich ,he is not contented .
-যদিও সে ধনী , সে তৃপ্ত নয় ।
Compound : He is rich but he is not contented .
Simple : In spite of being rich ,he is not contented . (ধনী হওয়া সত্ত্বেও)

-যেহেতু সে অসুস্থ ছিল,সে স্কুলে উপস্থিত হতে পারলনা।
Compound : He was ill and he did not attend school .
-সে অসুস্থ ছিল এবং সে স্কুলে উপস্থিত হতে পারল না ।
Simple: Because of his illness , he did not attend school .
-অসুস্থতার কারণে সে স্কুলে উপস্থিত হতে পারল না।
30. We read that we may learn .-
-আমরা পড়ি যাতে আমরা শিখতে পারি।
Compound : We read and  thus ,we can  learn .
Simple :We read to learn .
31.Complex: Walk carefully lest you should fall down.
-সতর্কভাবে হাঁট পাছে তুমি পড়ে যাবে।
Compound : Walk carefully ,otherwise you may/will fall down .
সতর্কভাবে হাঁট ,অন্যথায়  তুমি পড়ে যাবে।
Simple  : Without walking carefully , you may /will fall down .
-সতর্কভাবে হাঁটা ব্যাতীত তুমি পড়ে যেতে পার।
32.They will not come unless you invite .
Simple : Without your invitation , they will not come .
 33.Since you are ill , you can not go there .
Compound :You are ill , so you can not go there .
Simple ; Because of your illness , you can not go there .
34. Complex: They will not come unless you invite.  
   Simple : Without your invitation , they will not come .
35.The man is so weak that he can not walk .
Compound : The man is very weak and so he can not walk .
Simple : The man is too weak to walk.
36. I saw the boy who was lame.
(-আমি বালকটিকে দেখেছিলাম যে ছিল খোঁড়া ।)
Simple : I saw a lame  boy.
আমি একটি খোঁড়া বালোককে দেখেছিলাম
Compound : I saw a boy and he was lame .
37.I saw him when he was going to school .
-যখন সে স্কুলে যাচ্ছিল , আমি তাকে দেখেছিলাম ।
Compound : He was going to school and then I saw him .
Simple : I saw him going to school .
 38. When it was 2004 ,I was in Dhaka .
Compound :It was 2004 and then I was in Dhaka .
Simple : In 2004 , I was in Dhaka .
 39.I do not know what his father’s name is.
Simple: I do not know his father’s name . 
40. I am sure that he will succeed in life .
Simple : I am sure of his success .

41।মেয়েটি হাঁসতে হাঁসতে চলে গেল ।

Simple-  The girl went away laughing .

Compound-The girl was laughing and went away .

-মেয়েটি হাঁসছিল এবং চলে গেল ।

Complex  -When the girl  went away,he was laughing .

-যখন মেয়েটি চলে গেল ,হে হাঁসছিল ।

42।চেয়ারে বসে তিনি একটি বই পড়ছেন ।

Simple -Sitting on a chair , he is reading a book .

Compound--He sat on the chair and reading a book .

-তিনি চেয়ারে বসেছিলেন এবং একটি বই পড়ছিলেন ।

Complex -When he was reading a book ,he  sat on a chair .

-যখন তিনি বই পড়ছিলেন ,তিনি চেয়ারে বসাছিলেন ।

43।ভাত খেয়ে আমি শুতে গেলাম ।

Simp;le-Eating rice , I went to bed .

              -Having  rice ,I went to bed .

Compound- I ate rice and went to bed .

Complex-I went  to bed after I had eaten rice .

44।সে গান গাইতে গাইতে কাজ করল ।

Simple-He worked  singing .

Compound-He was singing and worked .

Complex-When he worked ,he was singing .

45।তিনি হাঁটতে হাঁটতে গল্পটি বললেন ।

Simple-He told the story walking .

Compound-He was walking and told the story .

-সে হাঁটছিল এবং গল্পটি বলছিল ।

 

Comple -When he was walking, he told the story . 

–যখন সে হাঁটছিল ,সে গল্পটি বলছিল ।
